THE HORSE-STORY

THE HORSE-STORY

What I realize

Is that the real goal about being

On this three-dimensional rock

Isn’t about dressing up our life

(although you can have some temporary

fun and sorrow playing

with the contrast of that idea)

It’s really about

Awakening from what you THINK

Is your life.

We know nothing

Since everything we say we know

Ultimately ends up to be NO-THING.

This earthly dreamscape is a

“Now you see see it, now you don’t” experience.

The illusion of my personal identity

Is comparable to one of Nasruddin’s stories

Of a man on a horse

Galloping at great speed  through a village.

A person who saw him passing asked,

“Where are you going in such a hurry?”

The man answered,

“I don’t know, you’ll have to ask the horse.”

Our personal identities are like the horse

With a will of its own,

Until we wake up

To who we say we are

What we THINK we are doing

Where we are going,

What is guiding us

And thus begin to,

Regain being master of the horse.

This is what rewriting our story is all about

Especially when we realize

The story we are ultimately living and writing

Is literally and metaphorically

“Out of this world.”
